I totally agree - our concern should begin and end with whether our interests are addressed or not. This is not the time to argue and nitpick on what is good for the whole world in the long term - remember, there is no "long term" for us without a GC. Lets be realistic - its a done deal that EB reform if all it comes up, will come with either a generous H1-B increase or illegal alien amnesty or both of them. Its not our job to worry about excessive immigration - the anti-immigrants and their friendly congressmen are always there to raise a hue and cry and dilute any and all pro-immigrant proposals. With them at work, if we ask for a yard we will get a foot, if we ask for a foot we will end up with not even an inch.

It will be impossible to educate every ligislator. We have to do the best we can to voice our concerns and go with the tide. We cannot nitpick the sections of the CIR and tell the legislators vote only for these. We just make sure that our issues are addressed in whatever bill comes up.

How about framing a letter and getting 5000 copies through a printing press for $125/- and send it to all the lawmakers, press media. We have done a flyier campaign for IV how about a flyer campaign again.

It is true that country quota is a discrimination. But when you just try to remove the country quota other country persons are going to oppose as they will be impacted if country quota is removed. But if you try with other agenda like recapture then opposition may not be strong and also every one will get benefit.

Leasson learned: File EAD renewal (send application just when 120 days are remaining, so that have enough breathing time to open SR or take infopass etc. incase the cards are not processed in time). Don't think much about loosing 2-3 months.

Been in the US since 1998, have an EB-2 PD of 2001, have played by the rules all along. Still no GC... And, the dates are going back to 2000 from the new year.. I've lost hopes...
I'm pretty close to getting clinical depression because of this game played by USCIS, Labor Dept, FBI and my own bad luck.
SKILL bill, OMNIBUS, etc. comes and goes. IV does seem to be doing things to lobby for the community, but let's face one reality. Like a news article said, no one in congress or senate wants to touch immigration even with a long pole until 2009.
The US has been very good to me (other than the GC part), more than my home country (India) which is why I'm still here.
Have invested too much of time in this country to just pack up and go. Just curious if any of you feel this way? How do you handle such depressing feelings?
We also came here in early 99. One of our friend came 98 and renewed ead 3 times. One of my husband's colleague is here since 95. My husband's coworker s from his first/second employers who came during same time are close to get citizenship. If my husband wouldn't have switched his jobs for his carrier advancements and salary then we also would have applied for citizenship by now. But we don't regret our decision at all. We feel sad sometimes but depressed by not getting GC by now, instead we spend that energy in advancement of our skills and carrier. We have many people among our friend circle who are waiting for GC for many years but we decided to enjoy our life as much as we can and not to bring any GC related depression in our life. If you have such friends among you then it becomes very easy to get out of this depression.

He refers to all the DOLLARS he has paid for , which means, all EAD and AP renewals ( For self and spouse) , Additional Lawyer fees incase of incorrect NOID, additional Bio-Metrics fees.
Wait till you hear the actual Lawsuit. Long way to go. But your post helped us to clarify what we are talking about to rest of the folks like you, incase, they misinterpreted the information.

Section 202 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) states that the per-country limit for preference immigrants is set at 7% of the total annual employment-based preference limits. This means a country with large population like India and a tiny country like Lichtenstein get same number of visa numbers. This system is designed to systematically discriminate people from India and China by preventing them from attaining employment visas. More research needs to be done whether this constitutes a violation of US Equal Employment Opportunity Law. We need to find out whether this constitutes discrimination by national origin.
